Those Tourists Took My Money!!!

I hadn't played poker in a few days, so early this morning I headed to the Strip to tangle with the tourists at the MGM Grand.

Traffic on Tropicana Blvd. was backed up as I neared the Strip. As I got closer, I could see that the usually fast-moving three lanes on Trop were narrowed down to two because of some roadwork right at the intersection of Trop and Las Vegas Blvd. Finally, I made it through the snarl and pulled into the MGM parking deck.

As I walked toward the poker room, the casino seemed a little quiet for 10 a.m. On the other hand, the poker room was a bit busy - four tables going. I signed up for a new $1-2 No Limit game that they were starting and I was able to get my lucky #1 seat. After buying in for $100, I settled in to play and had some early luck. I won a couple of small pots and was up about $30.

Unfortunately, that was my high point. I didn't get many good hands and when I did, they were second best. I had a Full House of 3 9s and 2 jacks get beaten by a Full House of 3 Jacks and 2 9s. Also, I had a nice King High flush beaten by a full house.

Despite losing my $100 buy-in, I had a good time. All the players were friendly tourist types - 3 buddies from Wisconsin playing together at the same table. One guy from London, England. and a couple of guys from Colorado. Fun, but financially a loss.

While I was gone, Helen was online with relatives and working on her sewing project. When I got home, I warmed up some Chili and that made a hearty dinner. Tonight we'll be watching the NBC Comedy shows and checking on some NCAA Hoops Games. Tomorrow night the Spartans play and we'll be rooting for MSU. Til then , our adventure continues...
