March Madness Day Three

Saturday is usually a busy day at Las Vegas casinos and March Madness makes it even busier.

For the third straight day, I headed to the Suncoast's March Madness party to take in the hoops action. My $25-Running-Parlay bet on Florida State lost last night, so Helen urged me to start another parlay...my choice today was Washington -2 over Purdue...it was a loser. But I did invest in a 3-team teaser with Michigan +13, Washington +3.5 and Western Ky +16.5. The first two have won and WKU is giving Gonzaga a tight battle in the second half, so our bet is looking good. It'll pay $150 when it hits.

The March Madness party room was abuzz today, but I sat alone and it wasn't as much fun as the first two days. No one sat near me to talk with about the games. It's a great venue, but the food was still below par. I mentioned that to one of the pit bosses and he said he's heard that several times...

Talked with my friend Terry in Detroit and he's made reservations at the Excalibur for April 19-22. He'll arrive around 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, the 19th, and flies home at 4 p.m. on Wednesday the 22. Air fare and 3 nights at the Ex for $410. A pretty sweet deal, since the airfare alone out of Detroit was going for almost $300, according to T. It'll be good to see him.

After about 4 hours of watching hoops, I wandered down to the blackjack pit. Should have stayed at the hoops party...no luck at all and I quickly burned through my $100 buy-in. After that I sat at a slot machine near the casino bar to watch the end of the U-M game.

I headed home about 5 p.m. and we decided dinner would be takeout from the Cheesecake Factory - BBQ Ranch Chicken Salad for Helen and Buffalo Wings & fries for me. While I was gone, Helen talked with her sister Natalie in TC. She also worked on her sewing project and watched some "Lifetime" specials on TV.

Now we're watching the Texas-Duke game and relaxing a bit, but tomorrow our adventure will continue...
