First Big Slot Win!

Early this morning I headed down to the MGM Grand, hoping to play poker.

But there was only a single game going, so I signed up to play at a second table if they got enough players. In the meantime, I found a 25-cent Haywire slot machine to kill some time. I shoved in a $20 and began to play. After a few minutes I hit a Double Logo - 7 -Double Logo and the credits started ringing up 50, 100, 200,400, 600.... finally 640 credits ($160) later it stopped! I cashed out at $175 for a cool profit of $155.

I checked the poker room and still no second game going, so I took down my name and went to the sports book where the basketball tournament games were under way. I put $50 on Michigan -5 over Iowa and made an easy profit when the Wolverines got out to a 20-point halftime lead and won by 28. I watched the whole game and parts of some others before deciding to head home.

But on the way home, I pulled into the Palace Station, which is on Sahara Ave. just west of the Strip. It's owned by the same company that runs the Red Rock Casino near our apt. Anyway, this was my first visit to PS and I played some $5 blackjack, racking up a profit of $80 in about 45 minutes. I decided to call it a day and head home.

Today's profit was $155+$50+80 = $285.

While I was out, Helen began working on her sewing project. She cut out the pattern in preparation to begin cutting the fabric. She read a bit, watched some TV and took a nap.

When I got home, I whipped up some scrambled eggs and hash browns for dinner. Sort of a breakfast dinner thing...

We just got a call from Scott, who has taken a sales rep job with a medical waste disposal company, InServe (sp?). It's a great relief that he's landed the gig, since he's been out of work for almost six months. He went to interview after interview and was doggedly persistent in pursuit of another job. We've VERY proud of him and his tenacity.

Now we're watching TV, relaxing and thinking about what tomorrow's adventures will bring...
